e-CAB: Candidate introduction meeting will be not be held
Elections for the 2022-24 term of the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) are now at the center of discussion in the country's technology arena. According to the schedule, the introductory meeting of the candidates was supposed to be held on June 4. However, the e-CAB Election Board is not holding a candidate introduction meeting on that day.
According to sources, after announcing the final list of candidates on June 30, Election Board Chairman Amin Helali held an introductory meeting with the candidates. Two other members-AHM Bazlur Rahman and Md. Abdur Razzak were also present at that time.
According to meeting sources, one of the groups in the meeting expressed inability to meet the election expenses and the venue at one stage of the discussion with the candidates. A candidate named Jisan Kingsuk Haque suggested that the commission should bear all the responsibility for the election expenses. At one stage, according to the rules of the constitution, the Election Commission decided to hold a direct vote without holding a candidate meeting. The polling place will be decided next week.
31 candidates are contesting for nine posts of the executive council of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) 2022-24 term elections to be held on June 18. Although 36 candidates bought nomination papers in the election, five withdrew their candidacies. After that, 27 candidates in three panels have come to the polls in an alliance. Under the panel, Change Makers and Agrogami have officially introduced their candidates on an equal footing with the electorate. Another panel called Oikyo has published the names of their candidates on social media and in the media. And there are 4 independent candidates. This time the number of voters in this organization of e-commerce sector of Bangladesh is 795.
